I am from Melbourne,  Australia and have worked with children for over 25 years in many different positions.  Most recently,  I have been teaching English to a group of 5 children aged 4-5 years, in a private Kindergarten here in Moscow.   Prior to this I taught Phonics in Singapore to 3-6 year olds, and I have also been a private tutor in Australia for the past 15 years.   I ran School Holiday Programs and Horse Riding & Surfing Camps for over 12 years, in Australia, and love working with children of all ages!

I have a 21 year old daughter who is studying Human Genetics at University College London and enjoy visiting her as often as possible.  During my spare time, I take horse riding lessons and also enjoy reading, movies, quilt making, live theatre, the ballet and eating out with friends.
I have travelled extensively visiting Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, plus many countries in Europe and many states in North America.

Most people would describe me as energetic and full of life.  I have a genuine passion for teaching children and will always strive to make the learning environment a happy, safe, exciting and fun place to be! I am excited to be working at the English Nursery School and am very pleased to have such a wonderful supportive team of assistants to work with me! I look forward to a rewarding year ahead and to watching your children blossom and grow in the English learning environment.

Bachelor of Arts in Russian
CELTA qualification (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)

I am 25 years old and recently returned to Moscow having previously lived and worked in London.
I studied Russian at Leeds University, England, and so spent a year studying in Moscow, which I immediately loved. Also during my degree, I spent some time working in an orphanage in Gorodets, a small village located in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, where I helped to develop younger and older children’s social and language skills. This gave me an insight into the importance of developing language skills as early as possible.
After spending some time in Gorodets, I continued to the Azov Sea, Ukraine, where I worked with children from Ukraine and Belarus, giving them an introduction to English language. Whilst living in London, I volunteered with my local community to develop the opportunities for young children who wanted to expand their interests in arts and theatre, which is also another of my interests. I also gained my CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) qualification at International House, London.

One of my great passions is to travel, and I have had the opportunity to travel along the Silk Road, starting in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, passing through China and Tajikistan, to end in the stunning cities of Uzbekistan. This gave me the opportunity to develop my interest in Russia’s history, and I hope to explore the country in more depth in the future. In my spare time I enjoy making the most of Moscow’s arts and theatre as well as music.

Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics
Specialist in Early Childhood Pedagogy and Psychology

I have recently graduated from the Linguistic Institute which is a part of the Moscow State Linguistic University. I have a B.A. in Linguistics (English and Spanish) and I completed a basic course in Pedagogy and Psychology.

It’s now my sixth year working at ENS. I like working with pre-school children very much. It depends on us – the teachers and parents – what kind of crops we will grow. I think I have a wonderful opportunity to participate in their psychological as well as linguistic development. I have seen many of my ENS pupils go on to continue their education at British and American primary schools, where they are happy and show solid English language skills.

At the moment I am studying at the Moscow Pedagogical State University in the Department of Early Childhood Education. I am also preparing myself to write an academic paper on teaching English as a second language to young children.

Ms. Alisa
Bachelor of Science, Biology

I am 25 years old and am originally from Moscow, although I have lived in Ithaca, New York since the age of 11. During my studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, I took several psychology classes and became interested in child development. Since I graduated, I have worked in Russian summer camps in Latvia, assisting Russian children with theater, music, mathematics, physical education and various games. I am also interested in language acquisition. Having learned English as a second language in an emersion environment, which involved growing up in the United States, I can appreciate how remarkably fast children can learn a language given the right opportunity.

In my spare time I enjoy playing piano, guitar, and singing as well as participating in sports. I’ve had unique opportunities to travel the world and expand my horizons, which I am grateful for, especially the opportunity to trek in the mountains of Central Asia and Nepal.

I really enjoy working with children, and believe in the philosophy that it's our responsibility to make every child feel special, appreciated and loved. This is essential for healthy development, and for their self-esteem in the future. I feel lucky to be working with such amazing kids!

Ms. Rebecca
Reception Teacher

Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Concentration in Acting and Voice
Bachelor of Liberal Science in Education (K-8)

I am from Nova Scotia, Canada and am enjoying my first year in Russia. I graduated from Dalhousie University with my degree in Theatre Arts in 2003 and I left to become a teacher in South Korea soon after. I stayed in South Korea for five years. I taught as an ESL teacher for two years working with children ages 2-18, after which I started work as a drama teacher with kindergarten students. I became the Head teacher of the Helen O’Grady Theatre Academy in 2007 and helped to train many teachers in the program. I decided to leave Korea in 2008 to pursue my degree in Education. I attended the University of Maine USA for one year and did my teaching practicum in my hometown of Amherst, Nova Scotia. Over the summer, during my stay in Canada, I worked with a camp for young girls to help with their self esteem and body image. It was a great experience.

I decided to come to Russia because it seemed like a great adventure and I liked the idea of teaching young children. My passion in life is to make every child I meet smile and feel good about themselves.

I enjoy the Arts very much and can be found playing my guitar or ukulele and singing my heart out. I also enjoy working with computers. I really enjoy cooking meals and prior to being a teacher I was a chef in a few different restaurants.

Ms. Hannah
Reception Teacher Assistant

Bachelor of Arts in French and Russian

I am  29 from Manchester, England.
I went to university in London.  I started learning Russian at university, which gave me an insight as an adult into how we learn languages.
I have been living in Moscow for a year and a half.  I really enjoy living here and speak Russian well.

I have about ten years’ experience working in ESL with all possible age groups, including a year in Sweden working as an au pair, a year as an English teacher in a primary school in France and a summer working in a children’s camp in Novokuznetsk to name but a few.   While I was studying at university in London, I also volunteered in a primary school in the area.   I thoroughly enjoy working with children as it is rewarding to see how quickly they learn new information and how excited they are about it.  Also many of their observations can be very amusing and it is fun to play with them.  ENS is definitely the most well-equipped environment I have worked in.  There is everything you could possibly need to teach English effectively.
In my free time I enjoy playing the piano (when I get the chance!) and creating new and wonderful recipes.  I enjoy knitting things for friends and family.  I sing in a choir here in Moscow and regularly attend the theatre, concerts and the cinema.  I enjoy running (weather permitting!) and swimming.

I have travelled to various countries around Europe and Asia and I love meeting new people, learning new languages and trying new cuisines.

Reception Teacher Assistant

Bachelor of Science (Psychology)

I was born in Moscow but moved to the USA at the age of 3 where I grew up in New York City. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2004 with a degree in Child Psychology and moved back to my native city. While studying at CMU, I worked at children’s school for two years with children aged 3-5.  I have various experience teaching children of different cultures and backgrounds in and out of the classroom, as well as research experience in the field of child development.  I have always been interested in child psychology.  I strongly believe in the importance of a healthy relationship between adult and child based on a mutual exchange of love and respect.  How much we can learn from each other is truly amazing. I have two children of my own and find being around kids rewarding.

My recent addition to ENS has been a very positive experience so far!  I look forward to working here and making friends with the “little people” who make this nursery such a wonderful and warm place.
