I was born in London and lived there until I was eight, my family then moved to Norfolk, known for its flat landscape and big skies.
I was lucky enough to go to an excellent school which valued hard work and creativity and instilled in me the belief that I could do anything I put my mind to. I always dreamed of having a big adventure and going off to live in a foreign city. Much to my parent’s surprise, I fulfilled that dream when I moved to Moscow in 2003. I had studied Russian at University and wanted to improve my language skills and find out more about this amazing country and its fantastic people.
I started working as an assistant at ENS in 2004. Other than playing schools with my shampoo bottles in bath as a little girl, I had never really considered becoming a teacher. But my time at ENS stirred an interest which developed into a passion. I decided that I needed to learn more about child development and applied to study at one of the leading Universities for Education in the UK.
I worked in several schools before settling in a culturally diverse school in North London where I introduced initiatives to support children’s development and their innate ability to learn through play.
I undertook further training to become a Forest School leader: exploring the importance of the outdoors and children’s access to nature. I also had the privilege of working with hearing impaired children and achieved Level 1 BSL (British Sign Language).
Many of my friends have recently returned to Moscow and I was thrilled when the opportunity to return to ENS presented itself. I am looking forward to getting to know a new group of children, helping them to learn and grow and introducing them to the English language.
I enjoy sending little films to my husband and family in England to give them a taste of my life here. I am a great fan of the theatre and look forward to seeing what’s on in Moscow. I enjoy swimming, reading and catching up with friends, so Skype is a real blessing. I also have a real weakness for children’s picture books so if ever you lose me in Dom Knigi, you’ll always know where to find me!
